Debussy - De pas sur la neige
Excellent orchestrator
I don't want to elaborate on this particular orchestration--it is excellent!--so much as alert folk to the high quality of David Stowell's orchestrations. He chooses unusual but not eccentric or perverse instruments, such as the harmonica here and the tenor saxophone in the (likewise first-rate) Songs and Dances of Death, and makes an excellent case for them. The voices and harmonies are always clearly presented, and the textures invariably engaging. Warmly recommended to all concerned with the fine art of orchestration.

Sounds great
This piece is wonderful for the listener. The arrangement is interesting and the instrumentation works for the song. Overall, great work!

Froberger - Toccata in A minor
Very interesting piece of music
I love Froberger's keyboard music so it is interesting to hear a modern arrangement of one of his toccatas. This arrangement is very modern in that it introduces many dynamic and expression marks into the arrangement. I think that this is fair enough for this piece and the arranger seems to have a clear vision in mind about how he wants this work to sound.
This arrangement is a laudable manifestation of one of Froberger's works in a different and modern medium. Considering how small is the amount of Froberger's ensemble music that has come down to us (most of the music we have is keyboard music), this piece does go some way towards suggesting how this composer might have approached composing music for strings.

Mussorgsky - Trepak (Songs and Dances of Death)
Wow!
That's a higly professional orchestration! I can definitely say that even DSCH [Dmitri Shostakovich] would be proud to make one like this.
